Latest Finance Bill. Confused ? You won't be after...

The latest, and last, finance bill for 2010 was published on Thursday.  It was then promptly withdrawn; apparently because the bill was missing some intended content. I do not recall a money bill, or any bill, previously being withdrawn in its entirety. With many hoping for this government to do a better job than its predecessors when it comes to the tax code, it is hardly an auspicious start.

A second version of the bill was published today. Whilst being the third bill of 2010, it is only the second bill of this current parliament and is, therefore, the Finance (No.2) Bill. But, assuming the bill receives royal assent before the end of the year, it will be the third act in the calendar year and will, therefore, become the Finance (No. 3) Act 2010.  Good, that's clear then.

Download the bill here.
