HMRC non-execs

Acccording to the HMRC website:

"... HMRC Non-Executive Directors are senior business figures from outside the department who bring a diverse mix of expertise and skills from across both public and private sector. HMRC looks to its Non-Executive Directors to:

· bring guidance and advice
· support and challenge management about the department’s strategic direction
· provide support in monitoring and reviewing progress ..."

The Board of HM Revenue & Customs has 6 non-executive directors, including Mark Haysom CBE. Might that be the same Mark Haysom CBE who has recently resigned, with a six figure pay off, as head of the Learning and Skills Council after being described as inadequate and incompetent ?

Nevermind, inadequacy and incompetence is no bar to being on the Board of HMRC, as two of Mr Graysom’s fellow non-execs can testify; they are John Spence (ex Lloyds TSB) and Phil Hodkinson (ex HBOS).
