The unstoppable crusade on IHT

Avid readers of the utter drivel spouted by The Daily Express, in its campaign for the abolition of inheritance tax, will most probably have missed the excellent lead article in Taxation, 29 March 2007.

Apparently, 73% of Express readers are in the lower social status grades and, therefore, most likely not to be possessed of sufficient wealth for their estates to be subject to IHT in any event.

The same article goes on to state the most wealthy 10% of the population own 53% of the UK's marketable wealth, and 71% of the wealth excluding dwellings (source: National Statistics).
