"Uppermost on the annoyance scale is Ms Primarolo, the Health Minister, whose emotional and patronising language fails to cover up that she is completely out of touch with virtually everything she is ever asked about. Like most politicians she replies to all questions with an irrelevant moral truism.

Asked about the ineffectiveness of the national drug treatment programme, Ms Primarolo spoke in a way that would insult the intelligence of a five-year-old: “It’s a very, very difficult group, it’s hard for the individuals . . . Let’s separate the issues here, John, and let’s firstly say that there is important progress that is being made.”
